I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood and Special Education from the University of Central Arkansas. After college, I took my first teaching job in Pilot Station, Alaska in “the Bush”. I ran the special education department for the whole school K-12, and I taught students receiving resources services and life skills services. From there, I moved back to my hometown of Houston and took a 3rd grade teaching position at The Briarwood School, a school for students with learning differences - specializing in teaching students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and more. I was able to teach a variety of grade levels, and I coached the boy’s varsity soccer team for 6 years. I was blessed to learn from amazing educators and inspiring leaders who always encouraged me to keep taking risks and growing my skills. Next, I served as the Middle-Upper Division Head for two years, while also completing my Master of Education in Administration from Houston Christian University. The next stage of my journey led me to a larger independent school in Houston where I serve as the Director of Learning Support. It is a dream job, and I love working with families, teachers, and students. I am blessed by my journey and truly thankful that it has led me here!
Getting to Know You
As an ESFJ, Enneagram 2, and almost exclusive “Relationship Builder” on Gallup’s Strength Finders, I love connecting with others. Part of connecting for me is learning about who you are, but also giving you the opportunity to know me.
I am a lover of all animals, avid reader, novice fisherwoman, and loyal friend. I love spending time outside (in reasonable temperatures), spending time with my friends and family, exploring coffee shops, buying excessive amounts of books, playing competitive rounds of Monopoly Deal, and spending time with my 13 year old Australian Shepherd, Maya (pictured here).
I can’t wait to connect with you soon!
